Pamela Fry, the author of
Harsh Evidence/The Dead Don't Talk, published only two mystery novels. The other was
The Watching Cat (1962). Here's the only photo I was able to dig up - the Abebook seller isn't exactly an expert on taking photos!
There was another Pamela Fry who did cook books at the same time. For all I know, it could be the same writer.
Here's a link to a (questionably) better photo of the book complete with synopsis and link to a post about Harsh Evidence (turns out this LadyGothic is friends with Pamela Fry's son).

Thanks for the link, it's great - I just can't locate LadyGothic's e-mail address anywhere on the site.
ReplyDeleteJuri, I came across a copy of The Watching Cat just a couple of months ago in Montreal. You were right to speculate that she was Canadian.
ReplyDeleteFrom the rather detailed dust jacket biography: "Although she has lived most her life in Montreal, writing about her Canadian surroundings, Miss Fry was born in London in 1917 and emigrated from England at the age of eleven."
There's much more. If you like, I'd be happy to email you a scan. I'm hoping to do a post on the book shortly.
Please, send me the scan (juri.nummelin@pp.inet.fi) and I'll post it on the blog! Waiting for your own blog post.
