My daughter

I haven't been blogging much - that's mainly because my daughter (now 10 years old, 11 later this year) is spending her Winter holiday in Finland and has been mainly staying with us for this week. She's going to her mother in a couple of hours and they are leaving back abroad early tomorrow morning. These are always difficult moments. My daughter is shy and doesn't really seem interested in getting melodramatic, so it's just normal life before we part again - she's playing with Kauto, I'm sitting at the computer, Elina is tidying up places, we're talking casually about lunch. And then it's all over again for five weeks.

  1. That's tough, Juri...sorry, I didn't realize you'd been a parent before your current partnersip, and being in different countries, however closeby (?) the other is, must make for some sad farewells. I suspect you and her mother are doing well by her, and good luck to you, to her, and all your family.

  2. Thanks, Todd. It is pretty tough. It's even tougher to Kauto, who was very depressed on Sunday, not feeling up to anything, just laying on a sofa and watching cartoons (Land Before Time sequels!).

But Todd, I've mentioned my daughter quite many times here in Pulpetti, you haven't been paying attention. Maybe I haven't pointed out every time that she doesn't live with us, but I'm pretty sure I've mentioned she's living abroad. I can't really mention her name or the country where they are living, it would make her mother angry. It's pretty far away, but in Europe nevertheless. (You can find more about this situation following the "family stuff" tag.)

  3. No, you're right, Juri, either I'd forgotten the references to your daughter's foreign residence, or somehow managed to not let it register, and took them to refer to your oldest daughter who lives with you regularly. Sorry about that.

  4. It's alright, Todd, I really can't presume everyone remembers my family history.

But just for the record: I have two kids. My daughter who's now 10 is living abroad with her mother. My son is living with my wife and me here in Finland.

  5. Indeed...sloppy writing on my part...your older child, a daughter, would be closer to what I meant to type.
