Ellroy and me

How did it go? HOW DID IT GO? Oh boy, how it went. Ellroy pretty much went to his defensive mood and started attacking me and I got too clumsy and made some stupid mistakes and it didn't really go very well. He got sore, very sore, and got mad at me at one point. (Not sure, of course, whether he was just fucking with me.)

But: I got a great story. James Ellroy pissed off in Finland? You can't have better stuff than that!

More details later! But not the recording of the interview! I'll destroy it the first minute I can.

Juri, sounds interesting. How'd you arrange the interview in the first place?

Juri,

Destroy the interview?!? Nooooo!!!!
C'mon, man. After the "teaser" in your post, my curiosity is at an all-time high. How about this: post the interview for a week, and then pull a "Mission Impossible", i.e. "This interview will self-destruct in seven days". What to you think? Anyway, whether you post it or not, sorry to hear the demon dog broke free of his leash and sunk his fangs into you.

I don't know if this'll make you feel better, but Ellroy is the kind of guy who has matured much quicker intellectually than emotionally. Not sure if you've known people like this, but I've known plenty. In fact, I was one of them. But it was back in my twenties! Mr. Ellroy, you're in your sixties, it's time to grow up, buddy.

Dave: Ellroy's been on tour in Europe for a month now and one of his places is Finland. He'll be here for two days, and I did the interview for a newspaper. It's out now.

Rittster: I'll think about it. I'm afraid I sound like a moron in the interview. I'll think about it. Ellroy didn't say much, at least nothing much of interest. But I got reactions out of him and that's good - my article for today is probably one of the best things I've ever written. It's just that I don't know how authentic his reactions were or if he only went to his demon dog routine, "to fuck with people", as he's reportedly said.

But I'll do at least a longer post about how it went, even though I wouldn't necessarily post the actual recording of the interview.

Juri, he visited Stockholm on Wednesday:

Seems this was a less spectacular encounter than what you experienced. Maybe you tamed the demon dog?

Juri,
Is any online version of your interview available, along with a "translate this page option"?

Sounds like things didn't go so well for interviewer Martin Roshammar, either.

Rittster, that link is a hoot! Laughed my ass off!

I'll try to write something longer about my interview and possibly post it on another blog of mine, so that Google can work its miracles on it. (The Swedish link works actually quite well in Goonglish.)

Since google translating seems to be the thing right now, here's another one.
