Allan Guthrie's promo video for Savage Night

Do I hear right? Allan Guthrie says that he's vegetarian and a teetotaller? Is that a fact?

Here he talks a bit about this coming book Savage Night.

I don't have my headphones handy, so I can't listen to the discussion now, but that's quite a tribute to Jim Thompson, to cop one of his titles.

There are a number of us teetotalling vegetarians about, Juri...

Damn! I was only waiting for a chance to get drunk with Al! (Like to eat veggie food myself, even though I eat meat, too.)

And with you, too, Todd, if you'd ever happen to visit Turku, Finland. Or I Philadelphia. (Isn't that where you live?)

Peter Rozovsky said...

Well, I live in Philadelphia, and I've been known to have a glass of red wine and a roast-beef sandwich from time to time.

Sounds excellent, Peter. If I'm ever in Philly...

As it happens, I have a glass of white wine in front of me.

I'm on the outskirts of Philadelphia and wondering how I might both fit in and afford NoirCon...the most expensive con I've contemplated atteding.

I'll be happy to treat you to a steak and either local or Belgian ale, if you come by, Juri...and if I'm in Turku, I will indeed look you up.

Todd, I'll buy you a beer if you make it to NoirCon. I signed up today.

The beer might be domestic, though. Oh, wait. The offer holds good for ginger ale or club soda, too.

Thanks for your offers, guys, certainly appreciated. Even though I'd change that ale for cider, Todd. Not to be picky...

You sure never know what raises comments in this blog...

By the way, I was - for a very short minute - thinking about trying to come to NoirCon, but the costs overcame me.

Thanks, Peter...if I make it, we'll trade some Diet Birch Beer for Milwaukee's Best, if the staggering door fees will allow even that.

And, Juri, hard or soft cider is certainly an option. Ah, I remember when I could drink...and eat sugar...in blissful ignorance of my blood glucose levels.

With the weakness of the American dollar, you could not only have come, but you could have lit your cigars with dollar bills. Of course, perhaps you don't smoke.

I don't smoke, but burning dollar bills might've been a sensation enough. Maybe the US dollar is even weaker next year.

Peter Rozovsky said...

Perish the thought of the dollar's falling even further. Things are getting apocalyptic enough in the U.S. already; I don't want to think that the economic decay could progress to the point where it affects my vacation travel plans.

Maybe you could both move to Finland. I promise I'll help you to find work.

I'd do it in a minute if not for the intimidatingly difficult prospect of having to master a Finno-Ugric language with fifteen noun cases.

I'll help you with that. It's not difficult, really. In two weeks you'll be writing editorials.
