I won!

I just received an e-mail saying that I was one of the winners in the short story contest of the Usva magazine. The theme of the contest was "everyday weird" and my contribution was a small story of 1,700 words about some strange shit going down on a gym. I talked about it a bit here.

Now I can quit my day job and pronounce myself a writer. Yii-haa! (As if I had a day job.)

Pusua seems correct, eh? Pusua!

Or is onnittelu better?

Thanks, guys and gals! "Pusua" is a way of my wife telling me that she's proud of me and loves me and - this is the most important thing - she sends kisses! Nice to have kisses from you, too, Todd!

"Onnittelu" (or actually "onnittelut") is the most correct phrase.

Don't know about "Gongratulations", though. :P

I am a hell of a kisser, Juri. The variant spelling of onnittelut is from that fine, fine online translator that I've had so much fun with on Phinnwebpolitics from time to time...perhaps that where Jussi found the translation to Gongrats. Said translator had no idea what "pusua" meant...is that a Finnish onomatopoeia/word that sounds like what it refers to, like "smack" and "boing" (or, for Americans at least, a loud, quick kiss is a "smooch")(even as loud, energetic tongue-kissing for Brits is "snog"ging).

It's not an onomatopeic word, Todd, "pusu" is literally a kiss and "pusua" is, well, hm, don't know the real grammatological word for it. Wife is saying that it's the same in Swedish. Maybe it's onomatopeic in there.
