Hard Case Crime dress - and a beauty in high heels!
Fashion designer Hally McGehean will be premiering her first wearable art collection during New York Fashion Week in a two-part fashion event in the Meatpacking District and SoHo. Among her ten featured designs of the show, McGehean will debut her Hard Case Crime dress. The Hard Case Crime dress is made out of nearly 1,000 miniature reproductions of covers from the award-winning Hard Case Crime line of retro-styled paperback crime novels. The skirt features every cover ever published in the series, including works by writers like Stephen King and Mickey Spillane, while the daring backless top is composed of interleaved copies of the cover of BABY MOLL by John Farris, whose cover was painted for Hard Case Crime by the legendary illustrator Robert McGinnis (whose other work includes the movie posters for “Breakfast At Tiffany’s” and the original Sean Connery James Bond movies in the 1960s). The outfit’s oversized belt features another McGinnis original, his rare horizontal cover painting for LOSERS LIVE LONGER by Russell Atwood.

My new sleaze book out
My new sex/sleaze/adult paperback novel is out. It's called Mynämäen motellin munamällit (which you don't want to try to say out loud, unless you're a Finn). It takes place in a roadside motel and boasts of cast of wild and unpredictably horny and violent characters. I dare say it's a pretty wild ride. It's a sequel of sorts to my earlier sex novel, Lausteen himokämppä (The Lust Cabin of Lauste), as it shares one character (the beastly police officer called Virtanen).
Here's an intentionally silly picture of me and the book. Note also the young and fresh mustache I decided to grow.

My mustache - now long gone

As I said a week back, I started to grow a mustache. But earlier today I shaved them off. Didn't like them. I looked too much like a geek and not a day younger - even though one of my reasons to start growing them was that I'd seen lots of young guys looking cool in their mustaches. And furthermore, Elina said they are scrapy. So: goodbye, mustache!
Here's a picture though. They didn't get very long in a week, but I'm performing in public tomorrow (hey, remember that Kevin Wignall is coming to Helsinki!), so I thought I'd better get rid of them.
I have a huge wart in my neck. I've said time and time again that this is no family blog. (The garment I'm wearing is the legendary vintage blue terrycloth overall that I keep instead of a robe, which I've always found a bit clumsy.)

Couple swimming trunks, eh?
We were going to go swimming last Sunday, but the swimming hall was closed - it's closed on weekends for the whole summer! (Typical of Turku, the city where we live in. They never do anything right.)But this gave me a reason to gather up my collection of vintage swimming trunks. Are you ready? I counted I have at least 25 pairs of old swimming trunks, from the sixties to the late eighties. I took a snapshot of all of them - and here it is.

My sneaker collection
I mentioned a while back that I've developed a fascination for old sneakers and other sports shoes. I put some on sale on Huuto.net (the Finnish eBay, that is) and thought I should post the pictures of the shoes here as well.
First we have a couple of nice red Adidas Superstars. A classic model, but perhaps a bit too hiphoppish to my tastes (and actually not very comfortable on foot). These are retro, perhaps from the early 2000's.

Then we have a couple of Finnish Karhu running shoes from the early eighties. Striking yellow, with the easily recognizable logo. Karhus are very fashionable now and I'm thinking of buying some retro models.
And last, but not least: a couple of Finnish football shoes from the sixties, called Jokke. They are great, but not very good to walk with (and I don't play football).
