What was I thinking?

I realized only after I'd shut down the computer and rushed off to the train station that Hammett's The Glass Key isn't a detective novel. Oh my. You can blame that for the hurry. I really do know these things. (Oh well, my blogging hasn't been very good lately... Will have to concentrate and not just throw things here in random.)

What were you thinking? Perhaps you were so tired that you were thinking straight. Detective novel ... noir ... hard-boiled ... police proecdural ... Why can't we agree to call everything "crime," and just be happy? That way, we would stop having to worry so much about definitions and disagreements when we make lists.

That happens, yeah. But as I said in the original post, it was pretty hard for me to come up with books strictly about detectives. The list of Top 10 crime novels would be a whole lot different - it would include Chandler, Macdonald and Hammett, though. Maybe something else from the detective list, too. Will have to think about that list - later.
