Where is this picture taken from?
I've seen it a dozen times, I know it's from a pulp mag from the late thirties, but I can't place it. Black Mask?
No, sorry, I meant the illustrated picture in the cover of the CD. It's from a pulp magazine, that much I know, and I'd place it in the mid-to-late thirties, but can't tell what magazine it was.

It looks like a Dan Turner, Hollywood Detective cover to me.
That's a possibility, but couldn't spot one in this:
